Norman Halloween Hub

Two chances to trick or treat, plus kids events, adult parties, and where to go for costumes and candy. The city recommends Friday night; Saturday is the traditional night, with game-day traffic to dodge.

Two chances to trick or treat

Friday, October 30, 6–8 PM: the city's recommended night

The City of Norman recommends neighborhood trick-or-treating on Friday, October 30, from 6 to 8 PM, instead of Saturday. The reason is public safety: OU hosts South Carolina at home on Saturday, which means heavy game-day traffic, road changes and closures, and public-safety crews tied up with the game. This is a recommendation, not a rule, and no one is banned from going out Saturday.

Saturday, October 31: the traditional night

The city sets no official hours for Saturday and does not ban Saturday trick-or-treating, so neighborhoods that keep the traditional night will still be out. Expect heavy game-day traffic, especially around OU and Campus Corner: OU kicks off against South Carolina at 3:15 PM CT, and the game runs into the evening.

Where to trick or treat

Straight talk: no published local source names Norman's best trick-or-treat neighborhoods, and none ties full-size candy bars to a specific Norman neighborhood. This hub will not invent a best-of list. What is solid:

  • Sooner Mall Mall-O-Ween, Friday 5–8 PM, 3301 W Main St: indoor trick-or-treating, an easy option if you want sidewalks and a roof.
  • The city's own guidance: trick-or-treat in your own neighborhood, on familiar well-lit routes, with adults along, in bright costumes, carrying flashlights.

Know a great street? Email [email protected] with the neighborhood and why, and community tips will be added here, labeled as community tips rather than verified claims.

Costume and candy stops

No verified Norman-specific Halloween sale turned up, so this section lists stops, not sale prices:

  • Queen of Hart's Costumes and Dancewear, 924 24th Ave SW. Friday 11 AM–5 PM, Saturday 10 AM–3 PM.
  • Lohmann's Good Things candy, 710 W Main St.
  • Apple Tree Chocolate, 209 E Main St.
  • Spirit Halloween and Party City also have Norman locations, but hours listings disagree, so call before you go: Spirit (855) 704-2669, Party City 405-561-1009.

After Halloween sales: don't pack it away yet

Spirit Halloween: get there before November 2. Both Norman locations plan to close November 2, and leftover costumes and decor are typically marked down November 1 and 2. Spirit has not announced an official sale or a discount percentage, so treat any percentage you hear as a rumor, not a promise. All store sales are final. Hours listings disagree, so call first: (855) 704-2669. Locations: 2600 W Robinson St Suite 219 and 1251 E Alameda St.

Party City, 552 Ed Noble Pkwy, 405-561-1009: check for marked-down costumes and party supplies after Halloween; call first for hours.

November 1 is clearance day across town. Most stores start marking down Halloween candy, costumes, and decor the day after Halloween, with deeper cuts the longer you wait and thinner pickings. If you are stocking up for next year, go early on November 1.
